The AP Top 25 for Week 7 has been released.
The SEC had a rough showing on Saturday at the top of the league. Top-5 teams Alabama and Tennessee both slid down to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, after dropping games in Week 6.
Their loss is another SEC team’s gain, however. Texas moved up to the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 this week despite being idle on Saturday. The Longhorns have a high-profile matchup with No. 18 Oklahoma on Saturday in Dallas.
Elsewhere in the SEC, Georgia remained at No. 5 after its big win over Auburn. Missouri moved down, however, as the Tigers also fell on Saturday. Mizzou is now ranked at No. 21 — 6 spots behind No. 15 Texas A&M.
The Big Ten had a tough weekend overall. Michigan was the big faller in this week’s poll as the Wolverines suffered a loss to Washington in a rematch of last year’s national championship game. They are now No. 24 in the AP Top 25.
USC also fell all the way out of the top 25 after picking up its second loss of the season already. The Trojans ended up just outside of the top 25 this week, as they received the most votes of any program who didn’t make the cut.
Ohio State moved up to No. 2 with its blowout win over Iowa this weekend. Oregon also moved back into the top 5 this week after defeating Michigan State on Friday night, reaching No. 3 in this poll.
