With almost a month separating Championship Saturday from the first bowl game featuring an SEC team, now is the perfect time for fans of the conference to get up to speed with the college basketball landscape.

The newest AP Top 25 poll, which was released Monday, can help with that. The rankings featured just four SEC teams, though all but one sat inside the top 10.

Tennessee moved down a spot to No. 7, while Auburn held steady at No. 8 and Kentucky jumped up one peg to No. 9. Mississippi State also experienced a nice leap, moving to No. 22 after rounding out last week’s Top 25 poll.

Two other SEC schools are positioned for a jump into the rankings if they can string a few good weeks together — Arkansas received three votes in Monday’s poll, while Florida picked up two.

Gonzaga, Kansas, Duke and Virginia maintained their grasp on the top four spots, respectively.
