Ole Miss surged into the top 5 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, rising nine spots to No. 4 after a 24-19 win over LSU in Oxford. All told, the poll features 10 SEC teams for the second straight week. Half of those are in the top 10.
The Rebels made the biggest jump out of any team in the post-Week 5 poll. Ole Miss improved to 5-0 with its victory over LSU for its best start since the 2022 season. The Tigers, ranked No. 4 the previous week, plunged to No. 13.
Elsewhere, Alabama made the most of its first true road game against Georgia in 10 seasons. The Crimson Tide won 24-21 and rose seven spots from No. 17 to No. 10. The Bulldogs fell seven spots from No. 5 to No. 12.
Oklahoma, who was idle in Week 5, moved up two spots to No. 5. Texas A&M, following a win over Auburn, climbed three spots to No. 6.
Meanwhile, Texas, which had Week 5 off, inched up from No. 10 to No. 9. Tennessee, which needed overtime to hold off Mississippi State on the road, stayed put at No. 15. Vanderbilt, which coasted past Utah State, is No. 16, its highest ranking since 2008. And Mizzou went up a spot to No. 19 after having no trouble with UMass.
