As rivalries go, Appalachian State and Georgia Southern is among the most heated around. The Sun Belt teams meet Thursday night on ESPNU for a key game in their conference.
But ahead of the game, which of course comes on Halloween, both teams released creepy hype and uniform reveal videos. The Mountaineers went with a “Stranger Things” themed video, while the Eagles chose “It.”
The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 18-14-1, but the Eagles took last year’s meeting, 34-14, as the Mountaineers were ranked for the first time and the loss knocked the then-No. 25 Mountaineers out of the poll.
This time, Appalachian State is 7-0 and ranked No. 20, while Georgia Southern is 4-3. The Mountaineers are a 15-point favorite in the game, which is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET.
The Eagles have just one loss in league play, so this game is expected to be a deciding factor for who wins the Sun Belt East. The Eagles have won three straight games, including two that went to multiple overtimes. The Eagles are playing their first game without freshman OL Jordan Wiggins, who died earlier this week.
