Arch Manning and Texas punched their ticket to the SEC Championship Game with a 17-7 win over Texas A&M in College Station in November. Though Manning didn’t start in that one, he put the Longhorns on the board first with 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-2.
In the end, it was the Longhorns picking up the victory in the first game between the two programs since 2011, in the return of an old in-state Big 12 rivalry with both now in the SEC. And in 2025, both teams will meet again, this time in Austin on Nov. 28.
With discussions over a 9-game conference schedule ongoing, there’s a possibility that Texas and Texas A&M could become permanent opponents after 2025. Either way, Manning will look to go 2-0 against the Aggies in his career.
“It was a privilege to have that rivalry back, and I’m glad I got to make an impact. They were a pretty good team…We are fired up to play them again,” Manning said.
Manning should make a much bigger impact in this game as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback, with Texas fans hoping their team is alive and well in the College Football Playoff conversation once the regular season finale rolls around.
