Texas quarterback Arch Manning had an interesting exchange with a Sam Houston defender late in the first quarter on Saturday night.

Manning scored a rushing touchdown to put the Longhorns up 14-0. What appeared to be a pretty standard touchdown quickly turned into something different as Manning stood over the Sam Houston defender and let him hear about the big play.

Here’s a look at the score and Manning’s reaction:

Somewhat surprisingly, Manning was not whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play. This game is being officiated by an SEC crew led by Jason Autrey.

Fans and media have been critical of Manning to start the 2025 season. He’s struggled mightily with his accuracy as a passer and has already thrown 3 interceptions so far this year. However, he’s off to a good start on Saturday night against Sam Houston. He completed 7-of-10 passes for 86 yards while leading the Longhorns to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

This is the final tune-up game for Manning and the Longhorns before the start of SEC play in a couple of weeks. Texas will be idle in Week 5 before facing Florida on Oct. 4. The Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma is set for Oct. 11.
