Arch Manning has thrown his first interception of the 2025 season.

The pick came midway through the third quarter as Texas was trying to mount a comeback against Ohio State on the road in Columbus. Facing second-and-long, Manning fired a ball to the opposite hash mark in search of a first down.

Instead, Manning’s toss found the arms of Ohio State defensive back Jermaine Mathews Jr. Here’s a clip:

For all of Manning’s struggles in the first part of this game, this was his first turnover of the afternoon. It came on drive after Manning led the Longhorns to the goal line, but was unable to punch the ball into the end zone on 4th and goal.

With this interception, Manning’s line now stands at 9-of-15 for 38 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. This was the third interception of his career — Manning threw a couple of picks last season.

Texas has already become the first preseason No. 1 team in nearly 40 years to go scoreless in the first half of its season-opener. If Manning and the Longhorns can’t turn things around in the fourth quarter, they’ll certainly fall out of that top spot when the Week 1 AP Poll is released early next week.
