If you leave home with your pistol, you need to make sure you carry your permit. While that may seem like an obvious thing, ArDarius Stewart learned that lesson the hard way recently.

The former Alabama receiver was arrested early Thursday by the Tuscaloosa Police and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit. This is a misdemeanor in Alabama. News of Stewart’s arrest was first reported by Stephanie Taylor of the Tuscaloosa News.

Stewart was arrested after being stopped by police along with passenger, Damarcus Marshall. Marshall had enough marijuana on him to be charged with first-degree possession of marijuana in the state of Alabama.

Since leaving Alabama following the 2016 season, Stewart was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After catching only six passes for 82 yards in his rookie season, Stewart was released by the team after being suspended to start the 2018 season. Stewart has since been waived twice more during his NFL career, once by Oakland and once by Washington.
