Sam Pittman is adding to his Arkansas coaching staff. The reported additions come on the defensive side of the ball.

Monday evening, Nick Mathews updated the bio in his Twitter account to say defensive backs analyst at Arkansas. He tweeted a farewell note to Marshall, where he played wide receiver and was on staff as a graduate assistant. Earlier this year, Sam Pittman hired former Marshall assistant Dominique Bowman as the new cornerbacks coach. Mathews worked with Bowman at Marshall.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Illinois assistant Terry Hawthorne will also be joining the Razorback staff. A former Illinois defensive back, Hawthorne has been on Bret Bielema’s staff as the director of high school personnel and Illini relations. Hawthorne was a 5th-round NFL Draft pick in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Steelers and later played in the CFL. Hawthorne will reportedly be a defensive quality control analyst for the Hogs.
