Arkansas is down a veteran special teams player as defensive back Bryon Keaton has announced he is retiring from football.
Instead of returning to the field for the Razorbacks as a junior, Keaton has declared it is in his best interest to retire from the game after 13 years of playing the sport. Keaton did not see the field in 2017 but did make 12 appearances in 2016 — the only season he played for the team.
Keaton was a three-star member of the team’s 2015 recruiting class. He announced the news on Twitter with the following statement:
“After talking with my family I’ve decided to retire from football. It was the right decision for myself as I progress into the next chapter of my life. After 13 years total of playing football, and my final 3 years on the hill playing I have met some great people along the way, and made some great memories. There have been some ups and downs along this journey, but its been an unforgettable one. Thank you everyone for all the support over the years of my career and #WooPig. #BK39”
