Arkansas earned a commitment Wednesday from a defensive lineman with “Tank” as a nickname. Safe to say the interior of the Razorbacks’ defense added some muscle.
Former Maryland defensive tackle Anthony “Tank” Booker Jr. announced his commitment to the Hogs on Twitter. Booker entered the transfer portal back on March 6 and, earlier this month, revealed a group of five finalists that included Arkansas alongside Texas A&M, South Carolina, Ohio State, and Purdue.
He’ll have 2 years of eligibility after spending 4 at Maryland.

Booker was Maryland’s second-highest-graded defender last season, per Pro Football Focus. He started twice and appeared in 12 of the team’s 13 games. The vast majority of his snaps came lined up in the B gap or over a tackle.
A 6-foot-4, 320-pounder, Booker finished the 2022 campaign with 25 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a pass breakup.
He took a redshirt in 2019, appearing in 3 games and recording 3 tackles and 1 TFL. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he played in 14 of Maryland’s 18 games while recording 16 total tackles and 2.5 TFLs.
Booker adds to a transfer class that already ranked 14th in the country. He’s the 12th transfer to join the team.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
