Chad Morris comments on Connor Noland’s first half as starting QB, why he sent Nate Dalton to locker room
Arkansas is on the way to its first win over an FBS opponent on Saturday, up 10-0 over Tulsa at halftime from Fayetteville.
The big story heading into this game was the fact that freshman quarterback Connor Noland made his first career start for the Razorbacks with Ty Storey out on Saturday. The freshman completed eight of 12 passes for 71 yards with one touchdown and one interception during the first half.
Here’s what Morris had to say about his freshman signal caller heading into the locker room for halftime.
“I think he’s done some really good things out there,” Morris said. “We had a few checks that I wished we could have got into, you know, that’s just kinda what happens when you have a freshman quarterback out there. But his composure has been well, I’m really excited about him. He’s just got to keep getting first downs, our first down production is critical for him.”
Morris also commented on why he sent Nate Dalton to the locker room following the poor decision to get an unsportsmanlike penalty during the second quarter of the game.
“We’re just not going to do that,” he said.
The first-year Arkansas coach is attempting to set a new standard in Fayetteville and actions like that should go a long way toward completing that goal.
