Arkansas landed North Texas transfer TE Var’Keyes Gumms out of the portal earlier this offseason.
But, recently, Gumms had decided to reopen his recruitment. He even reportedly took a visit to Cal over the weekend.
At the end of the day, though, Gumms has decided to “recommit” to Arkansas ahead of the 2023 season, according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports:
North Texas TE transfer Var'Keyes Gumms (@varkeyesg) has recommitted to Arkansas, he tells @247Sports.
Gumms is one of the top overall TEs in the @247SportsPortal rankings and rejoins a Razorback transfer class that ranks 8th nationally. https://t.co/5X9MoyK2Wb

Gumms played in 14 games for North Texas in 2022, recording 34 catches for 458 yards and 5 touchdowns.
What this means for Arkansas
Gumms adds some serious talent to the tight end room for the Razorbacks. He figures to be a key weapon for QB KJ Jefferson this fall. The Hogs need some pass catchers to step up after losing Jadon Haselwood to the NFL and some other key receivers.
The running game will be solid behind Rocket Sanders, one of the top backs in the country. If Gumms can become a top target for Jefferson, it’ll be a big help for Arkansas.
