Arkansas senior linebacker says Razorbacks have 1 big reason to not look past Week 1 opponent Portland State

Chad Morris’ Arkansas Razorbacks are just a little over a week away from taking on division rival Ole Miss. The Hogs will first take on Portland State, an FCS opponent, in Week 1. Senior LB Scoota Harris said UA won’t be looking ahead to Week 2.

“Nah, you don’t worry about nobody – especially after losing to North Texas,” Harris told reporters at a recent media availability.

Harris acknowledged that it’s common to hear players say they’re not taking an upcoming opponent lightly, but this time he really means it.

“I guess you just take it more seriously when something like North Texas actually happens,” Harris added.

The Mean Green and its supporters are sure to be unhappy with the way Harris describes last year’s 44-17 loss. While not a Power 5 program, North Texas did well in Conference USA last season, going 9-3 in the regular season, earning a New Mexico Bowl bid (UNT lost 52-13 to Utah State, finishing the 2018 season 9-4). Losing to North Texas is not like losing to an FCS program (such as Portland State), though it was one of two non-SEC losses for Arkansas last season, and it was at home. The Colorado State loss was closer (34-27) and on the road.

Arkansas vs. Portland State is set for 4 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
