Arkansas softball falls to Texas, setting up decisive Game 3 for spot in Women’s College World Series

It all comes down to 1 game. No. 4 seed Arkansas fell to Texas 3-1 on Friday night in Fayetteville. The best-of-3 Super Regional series is now tied 1-1. Tomorrow’s winner will go to the Women’s College World Series.
All 4 of the game’s runs were scored in the 3rd inning. Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the inning when KB Sides scored on a 2-out single from Danielle Gibson. In the bottom half of the inning, Texas’ Katie Cimusz and Janae Jefferson hit back-to-back solo homers.

Mary Iakopo plated Alyssa Washington with a 1-out RBI double. Jefferson, a 3-time All-American, also made a key play in the field.

Arkansas’ Mary Haff went 2.1 innings, giving up all 3 runs on 5 hits, recording the loss. Chenise Delce tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief for UA. The winning pitcher was Texas’ Hailey Dolcini, who pitched all 7 innings, giving up an earned run on 5 hits.
Arkansas defeated Texas 7-1 in Thursday night’s Game 1. Game 3 is set for 3 p.m. CT/4 p.m. ET Saturday, airing on ESPN, per NCAA.com.
