Arkansas tight end Var’Keyes Gumms was dismissed from the Razorbacks in October. Now, the talented TE will officially enter the transfer portal and play elsewhere in 2025.

Gumms played in 5 games for the Razorbacks in 2024, catching 1 pass for 0 yards. The TE transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2023 season and will end his Arkansas career having played 14 games for the team with 4 catches for 26 yards.

Gumms’ best season came in 2022 as a freshman at North Texas. The TE caught 34 passes for 458 yards with 5 TDs. Gumms was a Second-team Freshman All-American after that impressive performance and was a hot commodity in the transfer portal.

Arkansas ended up securing Gumms, but the talented TE never caught on in Fayetteville.

In 2024, Gumms fell behind other TEs on the depth chart. Luke Hasz has been the lead TE for the team, catching 21 passes for 278 yards. Andreas Paaske and Shamar Easter have all gotten snaps at the position ahead of Gumms this season. Ty Washington is another TE who also got dismissed from the team in October.

The Razorbacks have 2 games remaining in 2024 and are 1 win away from reaching bowl eligibility. In Week 13, the team is playing host to Louisiana Tech. The team will end the regular season with a rivalry game against Missouri.
