Art Briles’ name was thrust back to the forefront of college football over the weekend, when Hue Jackson’s Grambling program tried to hire him as offensive coordinator.
Let go by Baylor amid a massive sexual assault scandal within the Bears’ program, Briles’ name had been mentioned in rumors in recent years with connection to CFB jobs, but nothing ended up materializing.
Now, though, after being hired by Grambling, the negative feedback from all around the CFB landscape has led to Briles resigning:

ESPN obtained a statement in which Briles said he didn’t want to be a distraction for the team:
In a statement obtained by ESPN, Briles thanked Grambling for the opportunity: "Unfortunately, I feel that my continued presence will be a distraction to you and your team, which is the last thing that I want. I have the utmost respect (for) the university, and your players." https://t.co/eFCcBxGf3r

We’ll see where Grambling turns now, but Briles’ tenure at the FCS program is over before it ever started.
