Auburn has turned into a top-tier SEC men’s basketball team under Bruce Pearl.
Pearl recently signed a massive contract extension that aims to keep him on The Plains for the rest of his coaching career. Now, he’s setting off to build a 2022-23 roster that can at least match what Auburn did in 2021-22, winning the SEC regular-season title.
Meanwhile, LSU is going in the opposite direction, having fired coach Will Wade amid NCAA allegations. Now, the Tigers’ recruiting class is falling apart.
On Tuesday, 5-star 2022 big man Yohan Traore decommitted from LSU. Per Sports Illustrated, Traore already has his top 4 schools in mind, and Auburn is very much in the mix for his commitment:
Texas Tech, Auburn, Gonzaga or Michigan will add one of the country’s best, most versatile bigs to their 2022 haul.
“I’ve already taken all of my visits, so I won’t be doing any of that,” Traore said. “I’m going to talk things over with my people and make a decision. It’ll be next week. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Traore is the No. 15 overall player in the 2022 class, the No. 4 center and the No. 1 recruit from Arizona.
Here are some highlights of Traore in high school:
