Auburn will reportedly be looking for a new director of player personnel.

FootballScoop and AL.com are reporting that Ryan Smith is leaving to join Clay Helton’s Georgia Southern staff as the program’s general manager.

Smith was hired to Bryan Harin’s staff in March. It was his second stint on The Plains, as he was previously a personnel and operations assistant on Gus Malzahn’s staff for the 2018 season.

In between Auburn stints, Smith spent 2 seasons at North Carolina as an offensive analyst on Mack Brown’s staff. Smith assisted Tar Heel offensive coaches with recruiting needs during his time at UNC. North Carolina signed back-to-back top 15 recruiting classes while Smith was on staff.
