Well, it’s back to the future for Auburn.

The Gus Malzahn era of play-calling (again) has produced a ton of points and explosive plays for the Tigers against Purdue. The Boilermakers’ defense is just no match for Auburn’s speed.

The Tigers lead 56-7 with 2:01 left in the second quarter.

Behind Malzahn’s play-calling, Auburn set a new Music City Bowl scoring record Friday with 56 points. The previous record was set by West Virginia in 2000 when it beat Ole Miss 49-38.

The Tigers have rolled up 398 total yards not even through two quarters. QB Jarrett Stidham is 13-of-18 for 335 yards and four TDs, and RB JaTarvious Whitlow has scored three TDs on seven touches. WR Darius Slayton has caught three passes for 160 yards and scored three TDs.

Every offensive drive has resulted in a TD for Auburn, and it’s not even halftime yet.

Defensive player Big Kat Bryant also added a pick-six for Auburn off of a deflection.
