Freshman CB Jeremiah Dinson suffered some very severe injuries — including a separated shoulder, a dislocated knee and three torn ligaments in that knee — after a blind-side hit from a Texas A&M receiver last season.
The road to recovery has been long for the now-sophomore, who hopes to see the field for Auburn this season.
Though he hasn’t been cleared to play yet, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is optimistic that Dinson will rejoin the Tigers in 2016, according to AL.com:
“I’m hoping we get him back before the end of the year,” coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday. “That’s my hope.”
Malzahn added that Dinson has been working hard to get back on the field:
“He’s worked extremely hard,” Malzahn said of Dinson. “He’s a great kid and a very talented young man. So hopefully we’ll get him back. But his status right now is uncertain.”
Auburn and Texas A&M will meet this Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Central time on ESPN.
