The Auburn Tigers dealt with the news Tuesday that star RB Kerryon Johnson was leaving for the NFL Draft, and the Tigers will now have to replace a defender as Carlton Davis announced he will also leave for the NFL.

Davis is a junior CB who was an impressive defender for the Tigers. He finishes his career with four interceptions and will be a tough player for Auburn to replace on the defensive side of the ball.

Auburn Football shared Davis’ announcement and letter to fans:

Davis finishes his Auburn career with 136 total tackles, 3.5 TFL, four interceptions, and 28 pass break-ups. Unfortunately for Davis, he was knocked out of the SEC Championship Game against Georgia due to injury and was unable to play in the Peach Bowl due to illness.

He leaves a big hole on the Tigers defense, but his decision to head to the NFL is certainly understandable. Davis possesses good size and speed and should transition well to the next level.
