Auburn defensive back Antonio Kite, a transfer from Alabama, has reportedly been dismissed from Hugh Freeze’s team.

Jay G. Tate of Auburn Sports on Rivals reports that missed practices led to Kite getting the boot from the Tigers.

A product of Anniston (Alabama) High School, Kite was rated 4-stars, the No. 9 player in the state and No. 167 prospect overall in the 2022 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite. He signed with Nick Saban’s program over scholarship offers from 15 other programs.

Kite made just 2 appearances for Alabama during the 2022 season, taking a redshirt. In 2023, Kite was a special teams contributor and depth piece in the secondary, logging playing time in 7 contests.

After 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa, Kite entered the transfer portal and landed on The Plains. At AU, Kite played in 5 games of the 2024 campaign. Tate’s report notes that Kite has logged only 5 defensive snaps since Auburn’s Sept. 21 game against Arkansas.

Auburn is 3-5 on the season entering the Week 10 game against Vanderbilt. The Kite-less Tiger defense is tasked with containing familiar foe Diego Pavia, now the quarterback of the Commodores after transferring from New Mexico State.
