Considering Derrick Brown is a projected first-round NFL draft pick, it was fair for Auburn fans to wonder if he would forego his senior season as well as sit out the team’s bowl game to protect his health and draft stock.

The defensive lineman cleared up one of those issues Monday.

Brown tweeted that he will play for the Tigers in the Music City Bowl against Purdue on Dec. 28 in Nashville, Tennessee. It has become a recent trend for early draft entrants to not play in bowl games, and a few players have already opted to go that route this season.

But Brown isn’t one of them, as he revealed in a humorous Twitter announcement that poked a little fun at the media.

The 6-foot-5, 325 defender is tied for fifth in tackles for Auburn, recording 45 total stops as a junior. Brown is tied for second on the team in sacks (3.5) and ranks third in tackles for loss (9.5).

He has been a force for the Tigers since his freshman season, and fans will get to see him in action at least one more time.
