Auburn fans not thrilled with reported new AD hire on social media

Auburn may have found its new athletic director. He might not get the warmest welcome on The Plains, though.

It’s being reported that AU is nearing a deal with Mississippi State AD John Cohen to take the same position at Auburn. On social media, Auburn fans aren’t exactly thrilled by the hire.

Much of the reaction is being driven by conflicting reports regarding Cohen’s standing at MSU. There are reports that Mississippi State was looking to move on from Cohen. Others who cover the Bulldogs dispute those reports, pointing to Cohen’s extension.

If Cohen is hired by Auburn, AU fans will likely judge him based on his first hire, which may come in football. Bryan Harsin has been on the hot seat for much of the 2022 season. Harsin’s squad is currently trailing Arkansas 31-13 at home. Auburn would fall to 3-5 on the year with a loss to the Hogs.
