Auburn picked up a key flip on the first day of the Early Signing Period. 4-star defensive tackle Corey Wells is switching his pledge from Texas to Auburn to join his brother edge rusher Chris Wells who is also committed to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound Wells is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 31 defensive lineman and the No. 12 prospect from Mississippi. Wells initially committed to Texas in June.

During his senior season, Wells tallied 36 tackles, 8 TFL and 2 sacks. Wells was selected to the Clarion-Ledger’s Dandy Dozen.

Corey described what made him interested in making the transition from Texas to Auburn. He emphasized that he felt plenty of support from everyone he encountered on campus.

“The people, the coaches,” Corey said via 247Sports. “Everybody here is just so welcoming. Everybody here just loves you because of who you are.”

Auburn now has 17 commits in the class of 2026, with 11 having already signed with the program. It’s a solid start for new head coach Alex Golesh and his staff as they look to build out their first recruiting class on The Plains.
