Auburn is just down the road a smidge from Augusta National, but that didnโt stop Tigers players and coaches from having a bit of golf-related fun during the week of the 2026 Masters.
Auburn released a video Sunday morning showing players and coaches competing in a chipping contest during a recent spring workout โ with 11 different position groups competing against both each other and the coaching staff.
First prize? The winning group got dinner on new head coach Alex Golesh wherever they wanted.
One player per position competed in a 40-yard chipping challenge with predictably hilarious resultsโฆ as the athletes clearly are on campus for their football skills and not their golf prowess.
Despite being clear underdogs before the competition began, Auburnโs offensive line took down the coaching staff in the final. Which means Goleshโs new six-year, $44.25 million contract at Auburn will soon be dented by a hefty dinner bill somewhere in Lee County.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young tee off Sunday afternoon tied for the lead at the 90th Masters Tournament, one shot clear of Sam Burns and two clear of Shane Lowry. Auburn begins Goleshโs first season on the Plains on Sept. 5 at home against Baylor.
