The Auburn Tigers held a spring scrimmage on Saturday, and one of the biggest highlights came in the kicking game, where redshirt freshman K Anders Carlson continued to impress.

Carlson, the brother of former Auburn star K Daniel Carlson, drilled a 62-yard field goal at one point — an impressive feat for the young kicker.

Following the scrimmage, Carlson talked about his long kick, saying he’s pretty confident from the distance (via AuburnTigers.com):

“It was a good day overall,” Carlson said. “I had a chance to kick it 62. It was smooth operation, and I just booted it through. Can’t complain.

“Yeah, distance-wise I feel 62 is not anything if there’s no wind. But it’s all about accuracy. In the game, you get an extra five yards because of the adrenaline and whatever. But I feel confident.”

Daniel Carlson finished his Auburn career last year as the SEC’s all-time leading scorer. However, with four years of eligibility remaining, his younger brother could end up catching him.

If Anders can keep hitting long kicks like he did Saturday, Auburn will have a real special teams weapon this fall.
