Auburn lands big commitment on Christmas Day

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is probably giddy over this commitment.

The Tigers landed a commitment from three-star defensive tackle Alec Jackson. Jackson is from Montgomery, Alabama, and he committed to Auburn over North Carolina and South Carolina, among others.

Jackson tweeted out the news on Christmas Day.

Jackson is rated as the state of Alabama’s No. 38 overall player and the nation’s No. 54 overall defensive tackle in the class of 2017.

“I prayed to make sure I was making the right choice,” Jackson told 247Sports’ AuburnUndercover.com “Right after, I felt good about my decision.

“But we talked about this like two weeks ago,” Jackson said. “I talked to Coah (Kevin) Steele and Coach (Rodney) Garner about it.”

Jackson became Auburn’s 19th commitment in the class of 2017.
