Auburn LB sees bright future for Tigers QB Joey Gatewood

There isn’t too many positives around the Auburn football program at the moment. But maybe with all the drama surrounding the coaching situation and how the staff botched running back Asa Martin’s redshirt this year, Auburn fans can find solace in what Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis said about freshman quarterback Joey Gatewood.

Gatewood came to Auburn as a 4-star athlete and the Tigers’ top recruit in the 2018 class. 247Sports ranked him as the No. 1 athlete in the class.
With Jarrett Stidham heading to the NFL, Auburn has an opening at quarterback, and Gatewood very well may see significant playing time next season.
Auburn will also return Malik Willis and Cord Sandberg at quarterback next season. The Tigers will likely add at least one more signal caller in 2019 commit Bo Nix in the recruiting class as well.
