Auburn is hoping to find some momentum for the 2026 recruiting class over the summer. However, the Tigers lost a key piece in a surprising flip to Florida State.
The prospect is Devin Carter, a 4-star wide receiver out of Georgia’s Douglas County High School. He is the son of Dexter Carter, a standout performer for Florida State in the 1980s who would become a 1st-round draft pick.
In a bit of a unique twist, Devin Carter originally committed to FSU all the way back in 2023. However, he later reopened his recruitment in January 2024 before committing to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers.
But, on Monday, it was back to the Seminoles for Carter, where he will serve as a key piece for Mike Norvell and his staff.
Listed at 6-feet and 175 pounds, Carter is a 4-star recruit per the 247 Sports Composite. He checks in as the 17th WR in the nation and the 120th overall player, regardless of position, for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Carter instantly becomes the highest-rated prospect for FSU in the 2026 recruiting class. He is also the 16th hard commitment for a group that ranks as a top-15 class in the country.
On the flip side, Auburn‘s class is now down to just 5 hard commitments for the cycle. The Tigers have some heavy lifting to do before we reach the end of the road.
