The lingering question as to who would start under center for Auburn has finally been answered.

The school announced the decision a little more than just an hour before kickoff that redshirt freshman Sean White would the team’s starting quarterback for Auburn against Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl, which is set to kick off at noon ET on ESPN.

According to Charles Goldberg of AuburnTigers.com, junior Jeremy Johnson is also expected to play.

White, who’s been dealing with a knee injury that he suffered in the fourth quarter of a quadruple-overtime loss to Arkansas on Oct. 24, hasn’t seen game action since the team’s game against Georgia on Nov. 14 when he took the field in the second half.

He struggled in that appearance, only completing 1 of 5 passes and not looking 100 percent.

White replaced Johnson as the team’s starter after Auburn’s third game of the season, a 45-21 loss to LSU. White started the next five games before Johnson was re-inserted.

For the season, White has completed 57.7 percent of passes for 1,067 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
