Any time Auburn loses a coach that it wanted to keep to a school like Cincinnati, it’s not great news.
No offense intended to the Bearcats or former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.
But it looks like a scenario that Tigers coach Gus Malzahn will have to face on Monday, as it is being reported that offensive line coach J.B. Grimes is accepting the same job at Cincinnati after interviewing for it in recent days:

So what does that mean for Auburn?
According to several sources, Penn State offensive line coach Herb Hand may be the top target for Malzahn.
The two are said to be good friends, a bond that stems from their time together as co-offensive coordinators at Tulsa.
Though they parted ways when Malzahn left for Auburn, Hand also left for the SEC when he accepted a job as the offensive line coach at Vanderbilt. He was there four years before following James Franklin to Penn State.
