When Auburn took the field for Saturday’s scrimmage, there was one noticeable absence on the offensive side of the ball.

QB Jeremy Johnson didn’t play in the scrimmage due to what Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said were lingering effects from an injury to Johnson’s throwing hand suffered in practice earlier this week.

However, Malzahn was quick to caution media members about making assumptions on Auburn’s quarterback situation, according to a 247Sports report:

Malzahn told reporters: “don’t read too much into that.”

That’s easier said than done, of course, as every rep counts with the season three weeks away and the Auburn starting quarterback position still undecided.

Sean White and John Franklin III took the first-team snaps at quarterback during Saturday’s scrimmage.
