Auburn quarterback announces he’s entered NCAA transfer portal

Auburn has a QB competition going on this spring, with Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada and incumbent TJ Finley the favorites to win the starting job.
That leaves little room for Dematrius Davis, a former 4-star Auburn signee in the 2021 recruiting class.
On Wednesday afternoon, Davis took to Twitter to reveal he was entering the transfer portal, calling for any football coach who believed in him to come get him:

Davis was listed as the third quarterback on the depth chart in 2021, behind Bo Nix and Finley. But, he didn’t receive any playing time.
Davis was the No. 24 quarterback in the class of 2021 and the No. 35 overall recruit from the state of Texas, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
