New Auburn head football coach Alex Golesh has been hard at work over the past couple of weeks assembling his new staff on the Plains.

The former head coach of the South Florida Bulls has already brought in several highly experienced and well-traveled assistants to join his new staff with the Tigers, and he appears to be on the verge of adding another name to that list.

According to a report from CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz, Golesh is set to hire current Howard University head coach Larry Scott to become his new tight ends coach at Auburn.

Another seasoned coaching veteran, Scott will bring almost 2 decades of Division 1 experience with him to Auburn, with a resume that includes stops at several Power 4 programs.

He’s been the head coach at Howard for the past 6 seasons, leading the Bison to a 23-37 overall record during that span, and he was the tight ends coach at Florida, Miami, and Tennessee before that.

During his time with the Gators from 2018 to 2019, Scott coached All-American tight end and current Atlanta Falcons star Kyle Pitts, and he has also molded several other college tight ends into NFL Draft selections over the years.

Now he’ll be tasked with bringing similar success to the Auburn tight end room as a member of Golesh’s staff.
