There may not be a single more recognizable individual honor in all of sports than the Heisman Trophy. Considering that’s the goal of recent Auburn signee Harold Joiner, personal goals don’t get much bigger in college football.

The Birmingham native hopes to become only the fourth Tiger to win the award during his collegiate playing career. He would join quarterback Pat Sullivan (1971), running back Bo Jackson (1985), and quarterback Cameron Newton (2010) as the school’s only winners if he can accomplish that mission.

Here is what Joiner had to say according to Josh Bean of AL.com when asked about his expectations for his playing career on The Plains:

“Just to come in and play early,” Joiner said. “Then, maybe become the next Saquon Barkley, hopefully. I want to win the Heisman.”

Joiner signed with Auburn as a four-star prospect and was rated as the nation’s No. 5 running back prospect for the 2018 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. When you take into account the level of success Gus Malzahn has received from lesser heralded running backs, ruling out a potential Heisman run for someone of Joiner’s talent would be unwise.

To see how well he fits into Malzahn and Chip Lindsey’s offensive system, check out Joiner’s high school highlight reel:
