The transfer portal oftentimes creates a steady domino effect whenever one player enters or exits.

That reality has never been felt more than this year, as commitments across the country have caused players to re-seek new homes.

And in Columbia, Missouri, the latest portal drama may be actively unfolding.

Per reports from PowerMizzou, Auburn transfer wide receiver Horatio Fields, who was announced as a Mizzou signee on Jan. 8, has not arrived on campus, nor has he enrolled. The current assumption is that the recent commitment of Ole Miss transfer Cayden Lee will cause Fields to search for a new home.

From a projections standpoint, the decision from Fields does make some sense. The Douglasville, Georgia native began his career at Wake Forest where he played sparingly in 2023 before breaking out with 39 catches for 463 yards and 4 touchdowns the following year.

But upon transferring to Auburn, Fields fell victim to a crowded wide receiver room and a passing offense that was in flux, as the 6-foot-2 target only hauled a dozen passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in 2025.

Meanwhile, Lee enjoyed a productive 3-year career with the Rebels before opting to reunite with quarterback Austin Simmons at Mizzou. The Kennesaw, Georgia product racked up 106 receptions, 1,623 yards and 7 touchdowns while with Ole Miss and figures to become a go-to target for Simmons as the Tigers look to produce a more consistent aerial attack in 2026.
