Auburn updates Jordan-Hare Stadium with new signage for claimed national championships, SEC titles
Auburn displayed the national championships — and conference titles — that it’s now claiming on the facades at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers shook the SEC and college football world on Tuesday with the revelation that Auburn is now claiming 9 national championships instead of just 2. Previously, Auburn only laid claim to Associated Press national titles in 1957 and 2010.
Now, according to a report from On3 on Tuesday morning, Auburn is adding 7 national titles to that total number, which caught the attention of everybody who follows SEC and college football. Auburn said that it’s claiming titles that are consistent with the NCAA’s official standards for recognizing championships.
This means that the Auburn everybody knew with 2 national titles on Monday now is claiming 9 on Tuesday. And Auburn is making everybody take notice of it at Jordan-Hare Stadium, putting up new signage to signify its added national titles and conference titles.
Here are the pictures of the new title signage that are going up at Jordan-Hare on Tuesday:
Now, in addition to those national titles in 1957 and in 2010 with Cam Newton at the helm, Auburn is claiming national championships in 1910, 1913, 1914, 1958, 1983, 1993 and 2004.
Former Auburn head coach Terry Bowden made a statement on his 1993 team being declared national champions.
For Auburn football, it’s a different world, as of Tuesday, and it wants everybody to know it who watches games at Jordan-Hare Stadium starting this fall.
