Auburn started the season out 3-0, and Tigers fans were hoping they were finally taking the next step as a program. However, after the 23-17 double overtime loss to Missouri in Week 8, the Tigers are now on a 4-game losing streak.
The Tigers have been in every game, as their four losses are by a combined 29 points. However, while they are being competitive, they aren’t getting the job done in large part to offensive struggles, especially at the quarterback position.
Coach Hugh Freeze said Auburn will evaluate both Jackson Arnold and backup Ashton Daniels in practice this week as the Tigers prepare to face Arkansas in Week 9.
In the loss to Missouri, Arnold was 18-of-30 for 207 yards and one interception. Arnold’s shortcomings have been disappointing as the Tigers have the weapons on the outside in Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr.
Daniels played his first three seasons at Stanford, where he threw for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
Auburn also has a 5-star freshman quarterback in Deuce Knight who could potentially be an option as well.
Kickoff between the Tigers and Razorbacks is set for 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday.
