Wide receiver Cam Coleman left the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Arkansas with an apparent lower-leg injury.
Coleman, the top playmaker on the Auburn offense, was tended to by team trainers after a play late in the first quarter. He limped off the field favoring his right ankle/foot. He was taken to the team’s medical tent on the sideline, where he remained through the end of the quarter and into the start of the second quarter.
It’s not immediately clear what his status is for the remainder of the game.
Coleman brought in both of his targets in the first quarter for 27 yards and a touchdown. His score provided Auburn its only points of the opening frame, and it came in remarkable fashion.
Teammate Eric Singleton Jr. leads the Tigers in receptions this season (36 entering Week 9) but Coleman has paced the team in yardage. Through his first 7 games, Coleman recorded 30 catches for 413 yards and 2 scores.
Without Coleman on the field, sophomore wideout Perry Thompson and freshman Sam Turner should see more snaps on the outside.
Auburn held a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers are looking to snap a 4-game losing streak and secure their first SEC win.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
