Coming off a trip to the Final Four, Auburn basketball has fans excited for the 2019-20 season. The Tigers had a special “Tipoff at Toomer’s” celebration on Thursday night at Toomer’s Corner. Photos of the event (shared on Twitter by Josh Vitale of the Montgomery Advertiser) had former Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson wishing he was still at AU.

The attachment that fans and players alike feel to their alma mater is part of what college sports – including football and basketball – so special. Johnson obviously did well for himself opting to head to the NFL after the 2017 season. In Detroit, the former Tiger has established himself as the Lions’ workhorse running back (is it possible to work another animal into that sentence?). Johnson will presumably be watching Auburn football in action Saturday at Arkansas and Tigers hoops once the season gets underway in November.
