A wild Iron Bowl that saw 93 points scored between the 2 teams went the way of the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, as their regular season ended on a high note in front of their home fans.

Following the victory, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week for the final week of the regular season. The Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide 48-45 — their second win in the series in 3 years.

“The Iron Bowl seems to always have massive implications on the College Football Playoff, and that was certainly the case again this year,” Jim Terry of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation said in a press release. “In a back-and-forth affair, Auburn was able to make crucial plays when it mattered most. Rivalry games always meant a great deal to Coach Dodd. He would have loved the coaching chess match that played out during the game.”

Auburn is 9-3 and will learn its bowl destination on Sunday.
