The awards keep stacking up this week for Auburn, as well as its coaches and players.

Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn on Tuesday was named the Dodd Trophy National Coach of the Week, according to a tweet from CBS Sports college football writer Barrett Sallee.

“Named for legendary Georgia Tech coach Bobby Dodd, The Dodd Trophy was established in 1976 to honor the FBS football coach whose program represents three pillars of success: Scholarship, Leadership and Integrity,” the Dodd Trophy website states. “The award honors the coach of a team with a successful season on the field and equally as important, stresses the importance of academic excellence and desire to give back to the community.”

The weekly coaching awards are judged with quite the same set of values.

Malzahn’s team was exceptionally good in the “Leadership” part on Saturday when it upended No. 1 Georgia 40-17 in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

It’s nice to see Malzahn getting recognized this week, particularly after that exceptional coaching performance.
