Auburn’s Nick Marshall named Maxwell Award semifinalist

Senior quarterback Nick Marshall earned recognition for another big season on Monday, being named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s top player.

Marshall’s Auburn Tigers are 7-1 and currently No. 3 in the AP Top 25. Marshall has completed 99 of 155 passes this season for 1,357 yards and 13 touchdowns. He ranks second on the team in rushing with 631 yards and nine touchdowns.

In his two years on the Plains, Marshall has accounted for 48 total touchdowns, sixth in program history.

Marshall completed 15 of 22 passes for a season-high 254 yards and two scores in the win over Ole Miss on Saturday night.

The last Auburn player to win the Maxwell Award was Cam Newton in 2010.
