Back-to-back Bama commits: 4-star TE Jahleel Billingsley picks Crimson Tide over Florida
Alabama just took a big step Friday evening toward locking down the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class for the 2019 recruiting cycle as the Crimson Tide landed two four-star commitments.
The first pledge came from Maryland receiver John Metchie and the second comes from Illinois tight end Jahleel Billingsley. These two commits give the Crimson Tide 20 overall pledges for the 2019 recruiting cycle. Of the 20, 18 are rated as four-star recruits while one is a five-star and the other, the nation’s top kicker, is rated as a three-star prospect.
After recent visits to Tuscaloosa, Gainesville and Penn State, Billingsley decided it was time to end his recruitment and join Alabama’s class while spots remained available. He announced his commitment with the following message:

The 6-foot-4, 216-pound Philips Academy product is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 11 tight end and the No. 294 overall prospect in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. If Alabama holds on to all of its current commits and closes out the class with a few more pledges, there likely won’t be any program that can catch the Crimson Tide for the race for the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation for the 2019Â cycle.
