No. 5 Oklahoma doesn’t seem to have missed much of a step since Heisman Tropy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield’s departure, with Kyler Murray playing well through the first three games of the season.
The Sooners’ success with Murray calling signals made Matt Miller, NFL draft analyst for Bleacher Report, question how much second-year coach Lincoln Riley contributed to Mayfield’s career. On Saturday, he tweeted a brief conversation he had with a scout that seemed to imply Mayfield is more a product of Riley’s system than anything else.
I text an area scout, "Does watching Kyler Murray make you wonder how much of Baker's success was coaching?"
Reply: "I'd be shitting bricks right now."

Naturally, Mayfield wasn’t too pleased with Miller’s tweet. He fired back with a tweet of his own, calling Miller “ignorant” for questioning Murray’s skills.
Lincoln is the best coach in the country. But you’re ignorant if you think Kyler isn’t talented. Pure ignorance. Not your first take that shows your lack of actual knowledge.

We all know Mayfield isn’t afraid to hold back, so it’s not surprising to see him take a stand for his coach and former backup.
