The clock is ticking for the Tennessee Titans to make a decision on Derrick Henry. In March, the club has two deadlines to keep Henry from becoming a free agent. Tennessee can either place him under a franchise or transition tag by March 12 or re-sign him by March 18. Fellow Titans teammate Rashaan Evans, who played with Henry at Alabama in 2014 and ’15, recently described how he is lobbying the team to keep Henry.

“I’ve been hanging around the facility for a little bit,” Evans said during a recent appearance on the Westwood One podcast “RapSheet and Friends.” “I’ve been working out there, but every time I see those coaches I always give them a little hint like, ‘Hey, you know we need that monster back there. You do know that, right?’ I’ve constantly been reminding them.

“Too, just the fact he’s my guy. That’s my dude. We’ve been playing with each other in college. We’ve played together in the league. To continue that chemistry, to continue that little ritual of having two Bama guys on the same team, to be able to do the things that we’ve been doing, I feel like it’s: What other decision do you have to make to extend that man? I’m really looking forward and excited to him being able to get paid, to get paid for all the great things that he’s done for the organization. It’s definitely due to him. Me being a personal friend, I’m definitely just proud of him from the things that he’s done not only from college but to now. It has been very interesting to see how things have panned out for him because it wasn’t easy. He earned every bit of it.”

AL.com’s Mark Inabinnet points out that Henry lobbied Tennessee to draft Evans. Perhaps the Titans will again listen to another former Alabama standout lobbying for his old Tide teammate.
