LSU’s 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday prompted many Tiger fans to ask for more of a blowout, and the injury-filled victory left a much-worse impression than last weekend’s result against Clemson.
But regardless of how pretty the game was, a game ball must be given out, and Kentucky transfer wide receiver Barion Brown did more than enough to earn the honor.
The speedy senior led the Tigers with 94 receiving yards and tied for the team-high with 8 catches. He also tacked on a carry for 15 yards and a kickoff return that went for 42.
Brown arrived in Baton Rouge this past offseason after spending three years in Lexington. The Nashville native returned five kickoffs for scores during his time as a Wildcat while also racking up over 1,500 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns.
Brown’s standout season on special teams came in 2023, as he returned three kicks for touchdowns and averaged 36 yards per return. Meanwhile, he shined at receiver as a freshman in 2022, recording a career-high 628 yards to go along with four scores.
Brian Kelly, who awarded Brown the game ball, hopes the playmaker can continue to make an impact in both phases of the game as LSU enters a gauntlet stretch, beginning with a home date against Florida this Saturday.
