Barry Dunning Jr., a former Alabama Mr. Basketball, has announced a transfer destination from Arkansas.

Dunning committed to UAB, and on Instagram wrote, “time to set your heart ablaze.”

The former 4-star recruit from Mobile, Alabama (McGill-Toolen Catholic High School) signed with the Razorbacks over Memphis, Ole Miss and South Alabama. Dunning appeared in 16 games last season, and made 1 start, and averaged 3.2 minutes per game, as he scored a total of 5 points last season, with 2 steals.

Coming out of high school, Dunning was listed at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, and ranked as the No. 21 small forward in the country and Alabama’s top prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

UAB’s medical school and new conference – the American Athletic Conference – were also factors in his decision, AL.com reported. Dunning also said he chose the Blazers because they believed in him, and it’s closer to home.
